The romantic shell of Appuldurcombe House, the roofless baroque ruins of an 18th-century country mansion set against rolling Isle of Wight downland made for a breathtaking backdrop to Rosie and George's day.
Their ceremony took place within the ancient stone walls, the aisle lined with soft meadow-style florals, trailing greenery, and terracotta urns of olive trees that nodded to the Mediterranean. Inside the Great Hall, long wooden feasting tables ran the length of the space beneath festoon lighting and lush hanging foliage installations dripping from antique chandeliers.
The tables themselves were a true feast for the eyes, styled as an abundant banquet with cascading ivy runners, heaped with bunches of green grapes, pears, figs and apples, anchored by towering silver candelabras wrapped in trailing ivy and dressed with ivory taper candles. Soft blue linen napkins and framed table names completed the Renaissance-inspired tablescape, while the evening light spilled through the glassless windows, catching the candlelight and the weathered stone.
